My Sister and I almost had a fist fight the last time we played.
I would land on her Boardwalk, with 3-4 hotels.
Even mortgaging at the rates on the back of the cards, I can't pay.
I'd say "I don't have it, you won".
I figure it's only a game, let's play again.
Right??
OH NO!
She'll say " just give me one of your railroads and we'll call it even".
And she'd do this over and over until she had every piece of property on the board.
Well one day I didn't feel like going through the same routine of slowly being sucked out of all my properties so I refused her "generous" offer.
She yelled at me, accusing me of being a "sore loser" and flipped the board over just as her husband was walking in the door.
That was almost 30 yrs. ago.
We have never played Monopoly since.

Oh boy does that bring back memories! My dad was the cheating-est man you'd ever want to play a game with,and he'd cheat on us when we were like 6 years old!! He never cheated to win, though - he just cheated to get away with it. When I went off to college I discovered that some people take it WRONG if they discover you cheating...teehee...

Everybody I knows cheat. They'll land on my property and not pay up but I'll do the same thing. LOL, so yes everyone I know including myself has cheated in Monopoly.
I usually run the bank activities, and at times I find myself stealing $500 or so.

i seriously don't any more because everyone watches me. I used to but they all know that i'll do anything to win (i'm addicted to winning, i'm a winner, that's what i do, i win). Usually it's my brother and my two cousins, possibly other family members, but they all know that i like to cheat so they don't let me be banker or the property handler any more. I can't even touch the hotels/houses, i'm only allowed to touch my piece and 1 person has to stay with me at all times. Kind of sucks.

1thousand, I love ya, but I would rather take a searing hot poker to the eyes while a dozen crazed kittens were hanging from my sack than play monopoly. and yes, I cheat.
I sometimes do- but only when I'm playing my dad. He's really good at Monopoly! I sometimes sneak the ten-dollar bills into my pile! But when I'm playing other people, I try not to.
No, I don't need to cheat because I have a bountiful cleavage which distracts the other players, and I am a genius to boot!
But, on the rare occasion .... if I do find I am losing all of my Monopoly money, I get out my wallet and I bribe the banker with a $50 bill, and I make him/her give me all of the $100 and $500 dollar Monopoly bills. That way I am sure to win, and the banker person ends up happy, too!

Not me. Believe it or not, I'm 54 years old, and I have never played that game, and I'm quite sure I never will either.
only when I'm playing with little children so I can take all there money, make them go to jail, and eventually start to cry...I'm an evil monopoly player!
