A good azz whuppin is what this entire country is lacking in society. No damn time out! People need to be responsible for their own actions and it starts with childhood.
I got a belt. And that works much better for a child.

I always got a wooden spoon to the face but I never saw stars. I like it rough so I am going to say a belt across the back side:D
i got spanked and got time outs. I would say time outs were more frustrating, but spankings worked better.

didn't get either...i only got into trouble once....my mom would use our whole name when she was mad...for some reason it scared the daylights out of us...with my kids they always said i told them to wait till their father got home which is hilerous because my husband is a puff

I got the belt. I wasn't "abused", just disciplined.
Like it or not, sometimes "time outs" don't work...
see i believe in the belt across the backside but now a days people will through a hissy fit if you hit your kid with a belt on the butt even though they got it as a child (most likely)
im only 16 but i remember the belt and it hurt like heck.
my parents are afraid to use it on my 12year old bro because of so called child abuse. if you hit the kid in the face totally different story but if you give him a good wack with it he should get the message that the belt hurts and if i do something bad im gonna get the belt. I mean my grandma says teachers use to give you a beating with a ruler. if a teacher can do it a parent should definetely be able to do it.

i got a belt across the backside. what works best depends on the child. for me grounding would have been worse than death.
my brother was just the opposite.
what about the belt and then timeout...make sure that one of them works...
I probably got both..but I was a pretty good kid and if my parents told me something I usually listened...
I NEVER got a time out, it was always a belt across the backside or every now and then a hand across the face (Not endorsing this form of punishment)
Not a belt, but a good swift smack on the fanny will work. I hate timeouts, I never have any luck with that.
Depends on the crime.
Something that puts themselves or somebody else in danger - belting.
Something that is defiant, untrue, know better - time out.
Belt across the backside or wherever it landed at. I still remember the last time my mom hit me and my brother......still hurts....lol...

All I ever needed was to be yelled at, did it every time for me.
