yes, on my maternal side I descend from the Hiltons of Hilton castle, i have traced back to 11th century, quite a few royals and notorious ancestors there.I also found on my paternal side an ancestor who fought in the battle of trafalger and a murderer, my great grandad, who beat someone to death for stealing his leeks from his allotment....well he did have 22 hungery kids to feed.
It can be painstakingly hard work, but very rewarding.
I recommend to everyone to trace their roots, you never know what you'll find.

I found tracing my family tree pretty eerie i was really
interested to know about my ancestors but i
couldnt go through with it in the end.
I have studied mine a little....but I only really have names and dates....and only for the last few generations of my family. My mother has a book detailling her side of the family, though...and I believe that I have ancestors in common with Benjamin Franklin, though.....although I am not directly descended from him....and I can't quite remember exactly what the connection is.
