Are you considered legitimate if your parents are married...?!

Question: ...to different people?

Answers: ...to different people?

Actually, you just cease to exist. Can't have children of divorcees running around. That would be a threat to . . . to . . . the sanctity . . . of . . . . mawwiage?

Of course

no

Sure as long as the woman wasn't an adulterer before she had you.

You are making my brain hurt with this question. But I think the answer is no.

Yes, but I was sick when I was a baby, so in a way I was ill legitimate.

As a matter of fact the baby is legitimate. Nowhere does it ask on the birth certificate if the father is the blood relative of the child. The husband could, if he found out the baby wasn't his, contest the fatherhood (and therefore the support) of the baby but that does not make the baby illegitimate. (illegitimate = born out of wedlock)

The key word is "Married"

They have to be married to each other at the time you were born for you to be considered legitimate. If they get divorced after your birth, you are still legitimate.

I think so
