Exactly how lame is it to use multiple accounts to give yourself a higher best a!

Question: I mean I know I'm pretty much a nerd for being as into YA as I am.. but geez.. people get REALLY into this place, huh?

I just shame some of my friends in the Yahoo Answers to go in and vote for me. Why do the dirty work yourself. This way I don't feel so lame..ha ha...OK OK I am just kidding.. Actually, I do work hard at answering all the questions with clear, concise and lucid answers. sometimes they suck, but quite often, because I am so smart and cheeky, I strike gold too. Is that a good answer? Now can I have my 10 points please? (OH by the way, I beg as well. Sometimes that works too!)

It is very lame.

You can vote for yourself for Best Answer. You don't have to have separate accounts.

Yeah, I think it's pretty silly and pointless. What's even worse is when one person has multiple accounts not only to give themself a higher BA percentage, but also to harass others, and attempt to get them suspended.

I ran into someone who was doing that in the P&G section. They've since been suspended...and I won't deny that I had a part in it!

they are greedy.

tis a sad day rebel. bring forth the violins & the big "L"

I'd feel guilty just voting for myself. Besides, it doesn't mean anything if you cheat!

It depends on the reason you have seperate accounts. If it's to cause trouble then that's just sad but if you want to give yourselves thumbs up and best answer that's just....ok, that's a bit sad too but it's only harmless fun. Nobody wins any prizes on here afterall.

I don't have any other account than this but admittedly I've changed names many, many times.

i can think of few things lamer. i get all my BAs the same way the rest of us do. (i vote for them)

EDIT: haha, linz...you never award BAs either! that helps as well. somehow when you award a BA, that person will be more likely to return the favor. go through your old answers (they all will say either Resolved, Open or In Voting) find the "in votings" and vote. ROCK THE VOTE!!!

I never thought of doing that! I'm going to now though~!!!

Hey that's a great Idea. Maybe I could become a Top contributor.

Edit**
Voting for my best answer and enlist others to help me has not worked for me- multiple accounts may be a better plan.

Pretty gosh darned lame... someone should tell "imacatholic2" that it's lame, because she's been point gaming pretty much since she got here. It's true. The vast majority of her answers are voted as best, and that's after they default into vote. No one shows up in droves to vote for those questions... she votes for herself and a lot of people know it.

LOL sounds pretty lame to me. I will admit that I have a second account but that account and this one have never crossed paths. that other account is simply for questions that (to be completely brutally honest) I am too embarrassed to ask from this account because I don't want my contacts to know about or my friends that are here to know about. lol.

I never thought to vote for my own answers either lol. geez

Add: Jack definately does have some great answers. I always look forward to his opinion when I ask a question. He puts so much heart into it.
(((Linz))) =) its ok no rewards for having a high BA. I find it more fun just meeting people who agree and disagree with what you have to say.

Damn jonjon made me want some tacos now lol

You know, I can't remember my answers well enough to go back and vote on them; in fact, I was well known for having my signature on my answers, "this answer has been brought to you courtesy of Jack", and I pretty much stopped doing that, because I saw some comments to the effect that I did that so I could then go back and vote on my own answers.

I'll admit that I am a popular person, and I know a couple of people who are my contacts who will go through my q&a's and vote my answers best, if they think they can figure out which ones they are, but I think the main reason I get a lot of best answers is very simple:

I put a lot of effort into my answers and, generally speaking, they are pretty damn good.

My 13% BA score is based on someone (not me) going through the questions that I've answered and are in voting. I used to have an 8% or 9%.

I don't answer serious questions, most of the time, so you can guess what my percentage means to me (not much), though I do appreciate the Best Answers given by friends and contacts.

That's pretty lame. I never vote for answers anyway, I find that kind of boring. As for awarding best answer to your account with another of your accounts? Well, that's against the community guidelines. Bad point gamers, bad!!!

lol..."How lame is it?"

Lamer than a narcoleptic paraplegic on qualudes.

PS - That's interesting Darth Cheney, because once I had like 10 Best Answers in my email all at once, and when I clicked on them, they were all voted as well, and I swear on a stack of tacos that it wasn't me under another ID voting myself up.

I must agree that is pretty sad!

I think it's REALLY sad that there are people out there that take this THAT seriously.

I really enjoy seeing when I get best answer for something, and that feeling would be completely stripped away if I had to rely on my own votes to do it.

Edit: it really is, Jake.

Yes, that is whack!

and yes, people are that into this place. That's dumb.

The majority of the questions here will only give BA to those who agree with them.

The majority of the questions here also are about something that you most likely don't agree with.

Oh, and btw, on a scale of 1-10 on the lameness of creating deux accounts...its a 19,3

PS. Usually I hate it when I get voted a BA. Yahoo! says that it was the Y!A community that voted my BA--but I know it's usually one or two people.

Oh well, you gotta represent.

they must have no life!

i just recently started voting for myself again. i used to do that about a year ago, but had stopped. it's funny though, my percentage always stays the same, except for when i start using a new account. uh, one vote per question though. i see some people with percentages that are EXTREMELY high, and I just don't understand how they do it without cheating, but i have asked them flat out and they say no. so, in the long run, what difference does it really make?

I'll be back later to vote this as best answer.

Pretty freaking lame if you ask me. It’s amazing that anyone would go to that amount of trouble for something so meaningless. I know I take a lot of pride in any answer I put out on here, so if I can’t get it clean, why bother? I’ve had several people accuse me of such activity, which I find really insulting. It almost makes me wonder how my accusers are so well versed in the topic. Being on a leaderboard in any category naturally makes you a target of suspicion. Case in point, I’ve seen non-leaderboard individuals boasting best answer percentages of 65%, yet they remain above reproach. They must be able to walk on water as well.

What do you get if you move to a higher level? A new car? If you are best answerer, do you win a million dollars? I don't vote for myself. Its never occurred to me to. To each his own.

I like Y!A because I have met some fun people, and I enjoy reading their answers. I enjoy R&P, and finding new music. I am not going to worry about who got their points and how.

Rckets, I have seen one accuser. It seems to be a common thing to whine and gripe about the top answerers. It shows how childish they are.
