Giving a speech?!

Question: Im taking a speech class in school because it's required, but i HATE (hate) talking in front of people. What can I do so they don't see my hands shaking and so my voice doesn't go monotone as it often does when I'm nervous?

What I always do is just get up and act like I am talking to my friends. Picture yourself with six of your best friends, sitting in a circle and you are discussing whatever yuor topic is about.
don't try the picturing people naked thing, it just makes it harder to concentrate on what you are trying to say.
Also, put a watch on your podium and when you glance at your notes see how long you have been talking, it'll help you to stay with in the time limits.
If you have the opportunity, pick a topic you feel something toward, like for a persuasive speech, pick something you absolutly hate, or love...it'll help you get animated about it and keep you from going monotoned.
And make all of your speechs fun, pick a joke and throw it out there (pick something PC so you don't offend anyone)
