I think what a man teaches his daughter is what to think of men by watching how he treats their mother. Boys learn how to act, girls learn what to expect from men.
Too damned many men drop the ball.
I want my daughters to set a high standard for men when they're old enough to do so by displaying the highest level of manhood I can in front of them.

That's a good start Dad. Somewhere in there is to teach her to respect herself and her body as well. Teach her that life is not always fair and nothing is free. For every action there's a reaction and some actions have undesirable consequences.
During all this it's your responsibility to show her constantly that you love her continuously and without reproach. Show her she can trust and confide in you no matter what the subject. When she has a problem of any size she can come to you without fear and together you can work through it. Tell her often how proud you are of her in every way for small and large accomplishments.

If you can believe it? My "Little Girl", turned 30 last year. I'm tried to teach her values in Life. She's been blessed with two little boys of her own. And raising them quite well.
