I had one who did this all the time. And it seemed like the only she every came around or called was when she did need something. I never realized how bad it was until I moved across the US. I always gave in because I had known her so many years and thought of her like a sister instead of a friend. The I got sick with cancer for a third time and she wasn't there at all. She didn't call at all and I called her and she didn't even have the time of day for me. I thought maybe she was just busy so I let it go and called back again. I got the shock of my life when I called back and the same thing happened again. I call her every blue moon but she's not the same anymore. She's got a new BFF and she doesn't have much to say. It hurts, but I guess as a big girl I should have known better.

Yeah but all people do that not just friends. relatives and strangers too. They always approach to you when they need something of course it's annoying. But when you need something they disappear.

mmmm..... yes, i have one, she ditched me to hang out with the "Popular" people, and then she started talking to me again, asking favors, and i told her that she was being stupid to think i would want to help her.... i feel bad now, she used to be a good friend... but when people do that to you, then you have to remember that your better off with out them anyway. and everyone has true friends somewhere, even if they hadn't met yet. those are the friends you want to stick with.

Good question.. I have in fact got a friend, or should i say once had a friend. I've known her since 1974. She was a great friend, and we would help each other out.. But for the last 10 years, i only hear from her when she wants her appliances fixed. I started charging her. Now she don't much call. I actually hate her now. As long as i fixed her major household appliances and her grown sons for free, it was all good. My daughter said, mom that b is only calling you when she needs you.. So now when she calls it a cha ching. for me.
I don't claim those who do this as friends.
Yes, my so-called friends with benefits; but I'd usually gain more than loss. It's annoying at times, but it's mutual.
