Are rebounds anything more than a cover over your true feelings for your X?!

Question: Do they ever work out? Never known or had one that did.

Answers: Do they ever work out? Never known or had one that did.

I had a few rebounds after my ex and I broke up...they didn't work out, but I really didn't want them to...I wasn't ya know feeling it the same way with these people as I did with my ex. I just wanted to be taken out on dates (my ex never did that) and curb the loneliness for a night or few days and get laid by hot guys.

Hey sweetie, I'm out here. Wanted to think a bit before responding.

The first issue is that the ending of a relationship is like a death. What is common to everyone is that people move through all five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Different people are able to do this at different speeds. And that is what makes each breakup unique to the individuals who were involved.

Rebound can happen because you have not emotionally processed the last relationship. You can't be real in a new relationship, until you have fully processed and recovered from the grief/death of the last one

So getting back to your question, I believe they can work out, if you have gone through enough of the healing process. I know I married my rebound relationship and it has lasted. I am grateful as if I hadn't broken up with the first relationship the second and permanent one couldn't have happened. Take heart.....it can happen.
