Perry Como

I agree: Perry Como. I remember the second and third songs playing on the radio often~way back when. "Catch a Falling Star" was a song I learned on the keyboard organ to play at recitals. "Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket. Save it for a rainy day." At least that's how I remember it, as I haven't heard it played for~hmmm~several decades.

I remember watching his variety show on TV, in which he would walk out and perch on one of those high stools they use at counters, always very laidback. Once on his own variety show, Dean Martin walked out dressed in Como's casual attire, hopped up on a barstool then fell off. It was a silly bit, but the crowd was roaring with laughter!

Gosh, I miss variety shows. They should rerun them because plenty of us old Baby Boomers would enjoy the nostalgia. I'm not sure about Mitch Miller or "The Hit Parade" though.

My mom and dad told me how Perry Como kept his barber's license renewed, just in case the "singing job" didn't work out. *giggle* He was so popular!
