I have to say in some cases it does. It depends on the level of maturity that is held. My best friend and I had messed around several times. Before we decided we would we had agreed that it will not effect our friendship. It hasn't caused any conflicts what so ever. We are each in our own relationships with other people. You also have to know when to stop because feelings tend to develop so that is what you can consider was what ruins the friendship.

in my experience yes it ruined everything we had!
I did it (although we were dating at the time) and it didn't change anything. We still do it now that we're broken up (friends with benefits) and he's still one of my best friends. We still talk about everything, hang out together and do other normal friend stuff.
No, sex won't ruin a friendship. Arguments in a relationship that are related to sex can ruin a friendship, due to loss of trust.

im not very good at detaching emotionally, i would probably end up developing stronger feelings for the person.
I don't know because we decided against it. My best male friend and I did talk about it once, and although we do hug, and kiss each other hello and good bye, and if either are upset, we can sit and hold one another for hours. We decided that having sex 'might' change all that and NEITHER of us wanted to take that risk because what we have is so delicious. That was in late 2002 and we are still Best Friends, no sex benifits, but many more better bennies.

well it depends because he or she will have to agree if you are responsible enough to have sex so that mean you have to take chances and risk and make a choice too whether you want to do this or not.
yes most of the time,because if your friends already sex is usually the next step. You may need to be very up front before you have sex with them so that there is no misrepresentation of it.
