Question: Someone asked me if he could borrow a flat head screw driver...I said, "Let me see if I can't find it". After looking, I realized I don't have a flat head screw driver.

Is it fair for him to be angry with me because I don't have one?

No, he shouldn't be angry with you for trying to help ....... maybe he was just frustrated with not being able to find one to use. Just ignore his reaction and know that what you did was a good thing ...... = )
