I feel your pain, Yesterday moring I woke up and start what I belive to be the worst period I have ever had in my life!!!! Vicodine works good for me, but you might not have it, belive it or not expercise will help it out A LOT! So some sit ups or take a walk...Hope you feel better!

Try soaking in a warm bath. I hope you feel better.

Sit silently for sometime if nothing works. Close your eyes. It would be okay in less than a half hour, at the most. Distract yourself with music or maybe.. Y!A.

The warm bath idea is also good. Really hot water works wonders to soothe the body and the mind.

Depending on how intense your cramps are start taking at least 400 mg of ibuprofen a few days before you're supposed to start and continue till you're done.

Take Midal its the only thing that helps me and it comes in stronger if the normal blue box doesnt work for you.

Hot tub baths and strenuous exercises.Hard to believe but it does work well..

If you drink a lot of caffeine, you should cut back and drink more water.(8-10 8oz cups a day, plus 1 more for every 10lbs you are overweight, if at all).
If you don't drink milk, you will want a calcium supplement.
Make sure you are taking your vitamins.
Taking 400 mg of Ibuprofin every 6 hours a couple days before you actually expect your period, and continuing to do so once you get it, is very helpful.

Before I had kids, I used to get cramps so bad that I would be doubled over in pain, and couldn't get out of bed except to go to the bathroom. My contractions weren't as bad as some of the cramps I would get.
My OBGYN suggested all these things, and they are indeed helpful.
Also, drink some hot tea. Just cuz.

try "The rack" ..... I heard that it works oppositely ..... stretching instead of tightening.
