Do know a billion more folk per year buy tickets for Bollywood movies than for Hollywood ones?

Why?

They are all 3-hours-plus epics, with a bit of everything thrown in & designed for feel-good factor

I first saw them in my college final fieldwork term in London East End - Tower Hamlets, Stepney & Mile End - in Jan/Mar of the '79 'winter of discontent' - right after the notorious Brick Lane race riots

Locals would kindly ask, each time, "Would you like me to translate for you?"

I always said "It's OK,thanks: the acting is so graphic you don't need the words to enjoy it!"

Just reading "The History of Bollywood" by many-genre multi-award-winner journo & author Mahir Bose, who was many years with the Sunday Times & Daily Telegraph

Any readers see the www.channel4.com Sun pm long series of them, subtitled?
