Go with a tour. You don't know this person. It might not even be a man/woman whatever the person claims. For all you know, the person isn't even reallyl in France! Or French...unless you're totally fluent, so you could tell, you may be emailing with a high school French teacher from Montanna. Remember that thing you teach your children: Stranger Danger? You're a mom. You can't afford to go tripping off across the world to meet a stranger, woman. It wouldn't be wise. I know it's tempting, but if you want to see Paris, go with a friend, or go with a tour. Maybe you'll meet a safe man that way. (Just assuming it's a man...sorry.)
Get them to invite the kids too and have a family holiday.

Paris is overrated and anonymous French e-mailers are dangerous. I read a story a few weeks ago in The Guardian about a 60 year old widow who was whisked off to France for a blind date, only to be holed up in a farm by an aggressive old fart. Not nice. Be careful.
As tempting as it is B and I am the first to say take up opportunities as and when they arrive and be adventurous I really don't think you should risk this. You don't know him and no man who was genuine and decent would suggest a woman put herself at risk like that. Invite him over to see you but in a public place - I bet he would refuse!
