I think deep wine red dining rooms have a warm yet formal air to them.
I painted my living room a very pale green with even lighter trim and did my dining room in an almosr burgundy with lighter color trim but the dining room also is all pictures of flowers and there is alot of burgundy color backgrounds.
Papirus yellow or pistacchio green,both verrryyyy light.

Dark Reds, like all the various wine shades, are pretty common. It's probably because it's both warm and inviting, but also formal and not too bright at the same time......
Gray carpet, mahogany table with cherry stain, cobalt blue walls, bone white china trimmed with silver, crystal glasses, white rose center piece in a silver vase.
This is my dinning room decor. I just redecorated. I have a formal table seating 6, w/china cabinet, and serving table. I would describe it, as modern british colonial. I love it to bits.
