yes... photos are good memories
They are two different things and promote memories from different parts of the brain. Written is verbal memories and picture is worth a thousand words.
Most are more visual as in a picture and easier to interpret. Text is more your interpretation and than others need to figure out what you really meant by it.
They are just photo and written memories are just different types of memories. It does not make one better than the other, just different.
People who have an "optical memory" can recall memories easily by looking into photos.
Those who have the potentiality of expressing themselves in writings , would probably show texts.
