After going to the toilet you turn the tap on and wash your hands???!

Question: But
what's the point when you just have to touch the tap you've put germs on
again to turn it off?

Good point. I keep Clorox spray next to the sinks in the house and spray often.

i turn it off with a towel

You take a tissue and clean it off as you turn it off

Health care facilities train their workers to never touch these knobs--after you've washed your hands, you're to use a paper towel to turn off these knobs. If you must pump some sort of a lever to dispense the towel, I use my elbow. You also don't want to touch the door handle/panel as you exit to protect yourself the germs of people who didn't bother.

No, I learned not to pee on my hands.
