Ok, true bugs, are from the Hemiptera order, like leaf hoppers, stink bugs and that sort, the kind that look like they have shields on their backs, no, they don't. but sub orders of that type of bugs include water bugs and they bite HARD!! Bug kinda covers all insects just as a slang term, but don't worry there are about 800,000 insects known to man and only about 1500 of those bite.
