I should say yes, but i was passing elderly ladies and a bunch of school children alighting a Bus, the oldies was elbowing the kids and rreally shouting at them saying, they got no respect.. the poor school kids had prolly been waiting for the bus longer than the oldies..
If you are given respect then you should respect others. But to respect people who automatically look down on you is just not going to happen. Teenagers need to learn that if you approach someone and instantly disrespect them they will do the same to you. Show respect when you meet someone and hopefully they will respect you, but if they don't then by all means don't show any to them. At least that is my philosophy.

Yes and their parents are to blame. Too many parents are busy being their child's friend instead of actually being a parent. In my opinion this is why there are so many problems with young people today.

The amount of elderly people I have held a door open for and had not so much as a smile let alone a thank you, it seems they just expect you to do it for them.

Definitely yes! Respect minimizes the incidence of conflict between the young and the adults. I believe it is one of the bridges to close generation gaps.
Respect is something which has to be earned.An adult should earn the respect of a teenager and a teenager earn the respect of an adult. Oh what a perfect world it would be with all that respect hanging around.
Mutual respect is what we should have. A lot of teenagers don't seem to know that respect is firstly assumed, but has to be confirmed by appropriate behaviour. A pity, because, despite my own old age, I think most teenagers have a lot to be respected for, then they commonly let my expectations down.
