I'm all over both, no way to decide.
It's definitely a mood thing as with any music choice.
JJCale is soooo laid back, and just awesome.
Truly wish more knew about him and how to
just appreciate!
*He guests with Eric in the Crossroads double dvd I have.
And ZZTop of course is pure rock 'n blooz!
Billy Gibbons is a provider of much study for me.
*Listen to "I Need You Tonight," found on their
1983 album, "Eliminator". The phrasing in those
pure-Blues guitar solos is as personal as it gets.
Listen to it after dark, outside, under the night stars,
somewhere away from the din.
WHAT a treat you'll find it to be!

ZZ Top is good, but I think JJ Cale had more of an impact on music overall, writing songs for hundreds of other people to perform & listeners to enjoy!
JJ Cale some cover him well no one writes like him. Been a fan from his first lp along time.But ZZ is second best 3 piece band of all time in my opinion after Cream.
