My husband doesn't do it all the time though, and his crappy reasoning is that if he got into a car accident and the car caught on fire he wouldn't be able to get out in time, or if the car somehow ended up in water he may not be able to unbuckle himself fast enough to get out. They're lame excuses to me...

For a start, wearing a seat belt is required by law in Belgium. Not wearing one results in a huge fine.
