I already have a few images on my teenage sons door. I cleaned his room and it looked immaculate so I photographed it and stuck the photos on the bedroom door. So when the bedroom turned itself back into its usual pigsty I closed the door and just look at the photos and imagine that is what it looks like inside. Crazy I know but its better than a nagging mother don't you think.
something that is special to them like a ballet dancer might have a pair of ballet shoes or a boy may like cars and he's have cars all over it. it depends on the childs interests. If i was a parent i wouldn't want to see anything too rude. i used to have my name on my door with stars all over it and pics of my fave celebs around it.

A Nuclear Warning, Toxic Materials, Danger, and a sign requesting the person entering wears protective clothing plus gas mask would be appropriate for our 17 year old daughter's bedroom....we try NOT to go in there unless it is absolutely necessary....we value our health thank you!
