Big Brother show and Autism?!

Question: As a parent of an autistic child, I have heard everyone's outrage at the comments made by one of the Big Brother contestants. My question is.....does the comments of an ignorant person on an obnoxous reality show really merit so much attention? Yes, I find the comments offensive...but then so is the show. What are your thoughts? Are we just fueling this horrible persons 15 minutes of fame? I really could care less if CBS apoligizes as I don't care what they think.

I have never watched a show as offensive as Big Brother and I will never watch it ever. It promotes predatory tendencies of humans. The only use of that show is to ask people if they like it or not. If they like it then that tells you something of their nature. And vice versa. I am sorry your child has autism and hope he can progress.

I don't watch Big Brother to know what comment was made, but look at society today we're becoming more ignorant and self centered every day, it's becoming more about taking care of #1 then common courtesy for others.

Consider The Source; Those contestants aren't the "brightest" people....!!

NO it doesn't but, hey some people are just douche bags.

But everyone is entitled to there opinion they just don't have to say it aloud.

it just shows his own insensitivity. I don't see it as that big of a deal honestly. When he was growing up we were all taught they were called mentally retarded. Then when PC came about we had to change terms, some people still use the old terms out of habit. Was it insensitive, sure but its not a punishable act.
People need to get over it.

edit: (below) I'm not judging anyone, and actually I did see the episode, and he wasn't talking about autistic children, he was talking about developmentally disabled children, autism has NOTHING to do with his remarks. He said he works with "retards". He said nothing of autism, but of developmentally retard. You being a aunt of the autistic means nothing. I am the cousin, of an autistic and I worked with autistic adults as well as dev. disabled adults. People need to stop being so sensitive, and realize thats his issue. Not theirs.

I dont watch the show but heard about his remark- what worries me is that he made this statement but he WORKS with autism speaks, and is around autistic children daily....

i dont watch the show but yeah consider the source
it was highly insensitive and contestant should apolize.

oh and for my friend above me(chrissy) i'm aunt of a autistic lil boy (10) austic children are not mR(mental retarded) they are actually highly inteligent some lot more intelligent then us. they just have trouble communicating and live in thier own lil world Special that is the polite word for children I am a mother of a special lil girl (MR) she had stroke at month old due to being premiee and blood disorder are children are special not retatrded and not to be made fun off Just thank god your healthly and yr children are healthly dont judge others
