Why do teenagers think they're more grown up than the grown-ups?!

Question: Don't they realize that when they actually grow up, they really won't act as grown up?

I think I just confused myself... but I'm sure most of you will know what I mean.

Sidewalk 3:16 says that because their parents won't let them do what they want to do.

because they're immature

because teens act more mature usaaly from an older sibling or friend

nature, they do know more about there own generation, so they think they are smarter,
they think there parents are to far removed

because they're still growing and right now their boobs out weigh their brains

wanna skip school, smoke cigarettes, and make out?

Aaaw. I remember those days.
Now I'm trying to relive my youth since I had to act so grown as a teenager.

It takes maturity to realize you actually aren't very mature.

All my teenage life, all I wanted to be was grown up, now that I'm there I want to be a kid again. 39 going on 17

All I know is that it gives me a great reason to say that I'm going crazy!

the brain goes on vacation at age 13 and doesn't plan a return home trip for several years...then maturity starts to kick in!

hormones

Because they are young and immature and want to desperately be an adult. The teenage years are very hard - your not a child anymore and your not an adult - it's an in between time - and most teens are struggling to find themselves and they think they know everything because some of the think in their heads that they are older than they really are (mentally). Hormones also play a huge roll here - they make the teen act all kinds of crazy. :) Tough time - glad I'm not a teen anymore! :)

because they don't like being told what to do and when to do it and they always think they know the right answer

of course i have always been this way and will more than likely remain this way!

rewind a bit there

you're saying that teens are not so into playing and being immature, unlike the grown-ups

they're overreacting by being serious

umm,its because they just want to make you think they are very mature?

It gives them the chutzpah to move out of the house and start their own lives.

It's so aggrivating! We spend half of our lives trying to grow up and then the other half trying to be young again!

I'm reminded of the words of Mark Twain.

"When I was 14, my old man was the dumbest man on earth. He was so dumb I could hardly stand to be around him.

When I turned 21, I was amazed at how much he'd learned."

I hate the way the think they whole world revolves around them

YES< YES< YES!! We have 6, ***** them, 6 teenagers at our home and, of course, they THINK they are more "grown-up" then the parents! That leads to verbal warfare and physical grounded on a regular basis until a time comes that the "mature" ones can harness their mouths and attitudes.

Sandy :O)

The ***** is the word C O U N T...go figure why it's *'d out?

rebellion. They want to go against the flow of the norm and especially against anyone in authority. Parents need to teach their kids right from wrong and discipline with love and compassion and pray that their kids will do what's right before it's too late.

I think you always think you are smarter when you are younger. And then you become an adult and realize how right your parents really were!

Because they are stuck in between being a child, and being an adult. They don't want to think of themselves as being a "child", they would rather act and feel more "grown up". =)

It's just a natural thing for most teens.
