Have businesses forgotten what appointments are, exactly?!


Question: It seems that way to me. A couple of weeks ago I went to a bank to open a new CD, set up an 11AM appointment. I show up, the lady I'm meeting with is "with another customer", she finishes at 11:20 or so and proceeds to chin wag with a co-worker for a few minutes. I walked out at 11:25. Yesterday I had a 10AM appointment to get my oil changed and they start the work about 10:25 and don't finish until almost 11.

Should I just give up and stop bothering with pesky appointments?

It seems that appointments only apply to the customer, not the service "professional." More people should walk out, like you did,and maybe they would get the message.

yes, I never make an appt at the bank, cause they do whatever they want anyway.

shop for courtesy, then make that your BANK. Same with oil change etc.

Doctors are the same way. Wish the utlities companys and other debt companys would be late in billings.

Like Seinfeld said - they can make appointments, they just cannot keep them - ridiculous.

My last company put it this way, your appointment is the time that you arrive and the paperwork is started. The actual work that you are having done can't begin until you get through the check-in process. It's frustrating for the customers though. I find sometimes it works better if let the person I'm making the appointment with know what time I need to leave, then they can schedule my arrival for the best time to make that happen.
