What percentage of "best answers" do you like to maintain?!
Question: When it comes to Y!A I think that the points and level system is stupid. However I do appreciate it when I do receive a "best answer;" in fact I like to maintain myself above 20% if at all possible so, I try and stay around questions about things that I actually know something about to maintain this 20% or above. Does anyone else like to maintain a certain percentage or are most people just happy for whenever they get a "best answer?"

I have to agree with much of what you saying. This whole "point system" is, well... pointless! Really the only thing that should matter is the number of questions someone has answered and the percentage of time that answer gets rated best.
I personally, don't care about the points. I mostly want to just stick to those areas where I feel I have something valuable to contribute. Sure, I joke around alot. Afterall, it's boring to be serious all the time. But I do like it when I get that "best answer", particularly when the asker picks mine. It's a good feeling to know when you have helped someone out. I guess that's what I like most about the site.
As far as the percentage goes, I admit that I get more best answers than not, but since I really don't have any control over that number (the askers do), it doesn't suprise me that I don't get picked best answer a good 25% of the time! :) (That and staying away from Polls & Surveys with most of my answers... with this as a notable exception.)

I try to keep 10% because i answer too many questions to get more than that. at the moment im at 9% though.
I don't really care. I just answer questions that I know the answer to from experience and ask things when I need info.
i like to maintain mine above 10% atleast and mine usually stays around 13 - 14%
I'm happy with any best answer. Unfortunately, I've answered so many questions that my best answers can't get above 6% these days.

i try to stay above 15% it would be hard for to climb any higher with the amount of answers i have given
I'm not bothered myself, I'd like best answers obviously but they don't affect me really. I think I've got 5% best answer at the mo, and when you answer questions that 40 other people have answered, well that's twice as much as the average there. I'm okay with whatever.

I don't really follow all the "stats". I just like to ask and answer questions. It's more fun than watching TV.
Percentages really don't matter to me; however, I have been stuck between 15-16% for the past year. I am content

I agree with your strategy....I don't give answers like "I don't know", or a simple yes or no like some people do to get the two points. I only answer when I know I have a good shot at best answer.
Congratulations on your 20% or higher, right now I am celebrating my climb from 13% to 15%. :)

I just like going on answer sprees and then waiting a day or two for the best answers to be picked.
If I can stay around 10% or above I'm happy. I answer a lot of questions so it is harder to keep the percentage up, but in all reality it doesn't matter that much.

I've been deposited with the 5%ers. I made it to 6% once, but that didn't even last a whole day!:(
