Silence can be the most deafening of messages. It can lower your status in the realm of relationships. If you are arguing, at least you know the other person is trying to communicate their feelings. If they are silent, they certainly must feel you are below the level of any hope in resolving an issue.
They also know that silence is hurtful. They know they are intentionally hurting the other person which should send up a little flag. You will have to ask yourself why is this person willing to hurt me when they profess to have feelings for you.
If someone is doing that to you, don't try to talk to them. It only serves to strengthen their position. Let them cool off and hopefully by your silence they will understand that silence can work both ways.

Absolutely. Silence speaks louder than words, on occasion. And it can be very painful. That is why I endeavor to make sure that no one around me ever has silence...I'm a loud person. *sigh*

What people hate most is to be ignored, it keeps them tugging to get an answer, so there is no end in silence.

Silence sometimes is more tragic than anyone expects!! why would people silence. why would silence be a good answer to anything?

Ask your self, would you rather be in a screaming fight, where you know someone is paying attention to you. Or would you rather have someone ignore you completely. You talk and you talk, but no ones listening. I think that hurts more than anything. But can there be an end to a conversation if you are the only one talking?

To me it's still pain, Whether it's sudden, intense, and destructive, or it's constant, longer, and still destructive in time.
Silence can hurt longer, I don't know if the accumulated pain would compare or not to the sudden violence.

In my experience...ends are better in silence...
good qstn..... it depends upon the attitude of de person who takes it....but mostly the problem ends when it is in silence....there are also chances for the end up in violence and anger but it causes damage....but where as in silence the prob gets solved or not but it prolonges.....

ie. kids that separate themselves from the rest of the comuinty, sit in thier room, and dont talk to their parrents are hurning themselves.
because they start to get this feeling lonliness. then that turns into; "nobody likes me", then that turns into; "nobody understands me", then that turns into; "the world hates me", then that turns into; "i hate myself" then that turns into;
"I hate life"
and thats how emo kids are born.
