When I had both, 1979, I used the turntable a lot more and had it a lot longer. Still have my albums, but no turntable today.

Sweetheart, you ARE behind the times! I haven't seen an 8 track player since my brother in law sold his 78 Chevy Van! My parents own a record player, but they never use it.
I'm in the market for a Blue Ray disc player -- time to get with the times!

I can't even find my 8 track player..I think I left it in my old car...and all my tapes are unwound from the kids playing with them...My record player is broken,, or I would use it..I still have some awesome albums that I don't have cd's of yet...i still might buy one someday just to play them..Or I might just break down and buy a new sterio...depends what is cheaper...Good memories though of those albums..
LOL This reminds me of my first car in highschool it was so old that it had an 8 track player. Lasted me two weeks, but it was the best 350 I could spend LOL.

Even though i don't have one or the other right now (I had a record player at one point), my choice would be the record player. It's a joy for me to take some 78's and 45's and put them on and then doing that will take you back to a time when things were all so simple. Back then, you didn't have to worry about guns, drugs, gangs, money, insurance, and bills. You could just chill-lax and just be a normal kid.
I got a bunch of records. I'm just waiting to get a record player so I can get back in the groove again!

i use both the 8 track, which i only have about 4 8track cassettes, and the record player. i have many records. the 8track and the record player is one unit. i use the record player the most. u have to keep up with the new inventions and technology and keep the old ones 2. it like having your personal museum. how about the blue ray dvd player,kool!
record player broke years ago and I haven't had a 8 track since I was 13. All the tapes got ate.
