Why do they say 'New and Improved'? How can it be new if it was improved!

Question: It is part of marketing. Why would someone want to buy a "improved" ipod if they already have one, for instance. But, if they say "new and improved" hey i don't have that 1. Its just another way to make a few more dollars. (or millions)

good question..
i dont know..

Tooshay! I wonder that all the time too! Were practically cousins!

new formula as they improve it

becuz its the new you you've changed and your improved

LOL!!!!
great point!!!

nice! haha, but i think they meant, its a new version :D and its improved....

i have to disagree

HA!,,,so true!..xxx

Hey that's a really good question. If I do know the answer, I'll get back to you with a "New and Improved response"!

no idea

thats why its new, because its been improved and renovated, although in reality by the time it hits the market even newer technology has been made.

Maybe they mean the new version. As in, "The all new and improved version of Pepsi!" Dunno.

too-shay! i respect u 4 noticing that!

No Kidding.

True...never thought of that before.

You are right in one way and not in another. It is "new" because it is now different from the original and the newness stems from the fact that it is now improved.

New Design? And It's like the old one it's just a more improved one.

BECUZZ its new and it has improved since the old one so like my play station 3 its new and improved since the last two... am i right or am i right...lol

false advertisement! just want you to buy the product!

when they make improvements on something its not the same so its considered new

...ahh, you asked that "why" question....."they" don't have the answers.....

I just thought of it as a phrase and thought 'Oh, something new.' Maybe, now i think about it, it was taken off the market because of a default and they took it back and it corrected it.

That's Advertising and MarketingTalk...!!

... i dont know huh makes me think

ah oh

great now my brain hurts

This is truth in advertising. It is a new improvement of the same product.

I don't know. Also, when they put "new and improved flavor" on dog food, who tests that?

I guess because it's more than 'improved'! It's "New and improved!
A marketing sceme!

I love it when people know how to use and spell touché.
It's not "tooshay", that's totally rediculous. And you say touché to someone when you made a point, and they made a good counterpoint. Not just when someone makes a point out of nowhere.
But yes, that is a good point.

Because usually when something is new it comes from another thing or idea but is improved
