Answers: I home schooled for 2 years because my son was ADHD,but realized I needed more support.

i'm a junior in h.s. and this is my first year of homeschooling...it's not socially repressing at all. there was a study that shows that homeschoolers received higher scores on admissions testing on the SAT and ACT. i have a band so i'm always meeting people and i have a wonderful girlfriend, so i know for sure me being homeschooled doesn't make me a loner. just make sure he is involved with sports...maybe even talk about going to a summer camp. i have ADHD, and you know...i think it's a lot easier to maintain my focus now because it's just me and my computer (computer based high school) and i've received straight A's for the first time ever. it's a lot easier because you don't get the attention you need in traditional school..so yes, it is very good for mental growth.
research virtual school (and type in your state) and see what you get. i think 23 states now have a public-virtual school based program (which are mostly free) and in my opinion, it's a lot easier to do school online, you get to look in all these interesting websites for each class. i hope this helps, just remember, ask your son if he wants to play a sport (baseball is coming up!) maybe even sign him up for a karate class. there are also computer software they you can get at target, walmart, best buy, etc. that are for school. like there's a high school computer software program and an elementary school program (both for under 30 bucks i think) and those programs have multiple subjects. that will take a lot of stress off of you. i believe computers are very stimulating for people with ADHD. cause it's like you have to read something and then type and click around with the mouse...so you are stimulating your brain by reading and doing things with your hands to concentrate better. hope this helps!

i think its socially repressing, social interaction is just as important as academics especially for children and teens, u have to learn to be around different kinds of people in order to live in the real world

i know a lot of people will disagree with me. i was home schooled for 5th and 6th grade. (thanks to my crazy mother) then i went into foster care.... my little brother is "home schooled" by her also now. he is 16, never been to school a day in his whole life. so i say socially repressing in that situation. but not in all. depends on the situation, the parents and child or children.
