Who do you think it's more likely...?!

Question: to become a "value" in some scientific field... someone who is on the front page of the newspapers, or someone who gains the respect of a few great scientists in their field? does the public determine the notoriety and importance even in science?

could be either one. if the one in the spotlight can maintain composure and work under that kind of pressure, then yes they could be of value. if the one that stays under the radar feels he can complete his studies with no distraction, then he too could be of value. it all depends on the person.

i think it would be in the eyes of the other great scientist cause they actually know alot on the subject and are experts in there field so they for me would be a better judge then people with no idea and who're just amazed by the scientific discoveries.. =)

Actions speak louder than words...

Well I may be naive but I would hope the work would dictate the notoriety, it is hard to fake it in science but I suppose work could be stolen

Someone who is recognised by a few scientists is likely to have more value then being on the front page
