Well, i don't think you should. It depends on who you are trying to convince. It depends on how hard you REALLY tried in the first place. If you put your heart & soul into something and it didn't work out, then sure, its a bit of a bummer, but you ALWAYS have the opportunity to try again. Maybe not the same way as last time, maybe try it differently. BUT, if you never tried in the first place, then you need to ask yourself, why? Failure is never a negative thing - you just haven't found a way that works for you yet.
