A hypotenuse is the longest side of a right-angled triangle.

Sometimes objects can slip into what is known as the "fourth dimension". Usually they slip out of it again and can be found later (often in a different place from where you last saw it, strangely).
It happens mostly with smaller objects which is why pens constantly do it but your tv, for example, doesn't.
