Is love REALLY a good thing?!
Question: Think about it. Love DOES make us feel secure, blessed and happy. However, the following things are blamed on LOVE:
Staying with an abuser
Relationship w/someone who has AIDS, herpes, or other STD while the other is healthy
Tattoos on the neck
Financial debt
Staying with an unfaithful s/o
Doing intimate things you otherwise wouldn't do
Having a relationship with someone who can't read or write.
Or any of the other things that you, as a human being with sound judgement and character, would NEVER be involved with otherwise...

Okay, out of the big list you just made, I am guilty of two. Staying with an abuser, and financial debt. But I didn't do either of those things out of love. I did them because I was ignorant and selfish and too afraid to make a change in my life. The relationship that I was in, that caused me to do those two things, wasn't based on love. It was based on childish fantasies about what love should be, and me refusing to face reality for three long years.
Now, I love someone for the right reasons. And yes, it really IS a good thing.

Especially when You thought you could trust that person and they leave You. Then turn around and blame all the arguments on you and use that as an excuse to leave. GR!

love is a good thing if u make it right....but u are right alot of women stay with the abuser...and it is a shame.....love is blind that's all i have to say.

Screw it...Pete, I tried really hard to think of a good answer, but really...love is f'd up and can make you do f'd up things, things you thought you'd never do!
A lot of the things you mentioned are have nothing to do with love but of dependance or not wanting to be alone despite obvious problems. A lot of times a woman is scared to leave a man because she fears for her life and that can't be good or love. I am with a woman that I love and respect and treat her with compassion and kindness in a real and loving relationship.
well, the stupid thing is that we know all this and we keep falling in love, with the wrong people
actually to love is a great thing, but we should select first, we can not get involved with people who can be a source of danger

Like most things worth anything there is risk. So while you stand to gain something, you also stand to lose something.
I have been through H*** and back in the name of love. Had my heart shattered and my life destroyed. After all that, I'd still say that yes, it is worth it. If for no other reason than the fact that it brings out the best in who we are and gives us a glimpse of what the world could be like, and a small taste of heaven.
Love is what inspires us to be better people, to put others before ourselves. Love is the reason people conquer their own inner demons, it's what gives us the strength and courage to push ourselves farther than what we thought of as our capabilities.
