There used to be some old fart on here (not that I should talk, being as I am old as well but...) who would always answer people's questions by trying to appear intelligent and condescending. On his profile, he obviously considered himself brilliant and was proud of his habit of making strangers feel like crap. I finally blocked him. Maybe it's the same guy with a new image.

Such behavior is probably caused by a combination of egomania, lack of self esteem, and lack of social skills. Not to mention the lack of motivation to get off the computer and do something productive instead of cutting people down. This person finds it easy to be mean on the web because he doesn't have to actually interact face-to-face. Wonder if he would act the same way if he had to actually look at you? HMMMMMM.....I doubt it.
