Well, he is of lower than average intelligence. However, as a human being he is top notch. And as a film, its pretty masterful. And Tom's acting is brilliant.
I say genius. I have watched that movie many times and I believe he was autistic, but sure did over-come his handicaps.

Experts say give a kid and an adult a problem, the child will use his brain to come up with many more solutions to the problem than the adult. If we could all be mature but think like a child, the world would be a much better place. I love Forrest for his simplicity. Just sticking around doing his own thing kinda like a kid without a care in the world except for the love of Jennie and his son. I think i'll go put the movie in now, for old times sake.
