It depends on what memories are present. If it's bad memories it could be suppressed (a reaction of the brain to cope with trauma) due to either abuse or others.
It could be due to outside influences like due to an accident, illness, drugs, etc.
Look at your photo albums and it will come back, but sometimes, it's better you forget the past.
This happened after I started smoking weed at age 10. I guess all the things they said about weed are true. Oh well.

If it really means a lot to you that you want to remember your childhood, there are special people you go to who can dig up any memory in your mind that you may have forgotten.
Ussually people can't remember anything before age 3, 12? wow...

if u had bad memories it would be better that u were able to forget about the past memories that could cause trauma or sort of sorrow in your earlier years but if you claim that the memories u had in past might have been precious and worthwhile times, it's such a pity that you have forgotten all the meaningful memories in your childhood.. but since you cant remember at all i think its better for you to regard it positive way and try to convince yourself that u got rid of the childhood memories because you didnt want to keep them in your mind anymore.
I still remember going to the prom with my dad and going home with my mom... :-) talk about an early childhood memory!!!
I don't think it's bad, but if you really want to remember, you could talk to your parents and ask them to tell you some stories. It could spark some memories.

Depends, did you had a bad accident that causes you to have this memory lapse or is it because it's not a happy one & your mind is subconciously trying to block it out,,, You'll need to talk to someone who are close to you & knows you from the day you were born,,,
I think it is bad. I cannot remember anything either, and I came out of a alcoholic family and was constantly moved around. So I think maybe those things are hidden for a reason. But if you really want to know there are people who can help. I myself dont care to know what happened to me.
