I think it is about time some people on this site grew up?!
Question: Yesterday I answered a question where the asker said hasn't all this reporting and violating got out of hand and how can we stop it. My answer was "can levels 1 and 2 report? I don't think they should be allowed to".
At least 3 other people that answered after me agreed with me and I got a violation today for it - reason being it was not a question or answer! How ridiculous! Of course it was an answer! By my saying I don't think levels 1 and 2 should be able to report that is an answer for stopping all this childish reporting and violating!
I've only ever reported anyone if the content has been illegal and I know I'm not the only one.
So, before this question gets deleted for not actually being a question(!), what do you think?

In answer to your question:
I hear a lot about reporting and it seems to be a really vexing problem. I don't really care about people reporting, but it seems, imho, that there should be a MATURE arbitrator who can throw the nonsense reportings into the garbage can where they belong and let the rest of us get on with having fun, etc.
i think people just need to chill out.

You see, what happened there is that you spoke out against Yahoo! Answers by saying that the situation is "out of hand".
Once you speak against Y!A the violation usually isn't far away!

This has happened to me before. I don't know what to say.....
My solution was to become boring and word everything very carefully. I do feel that yahoo needs to actually monitor the violations better. And I do feel that your answer was indeed an answer as you mentioned that not allowing new users to report as one method of controlling the report happy trolls.
Unfortunately, that's par for the course on this site. I agree that your answer was an answer to that question.
just so you are aware...I just found this out last week, but Yahoohas gone to some sorta crappy auto report thing, at least thats what I was told...so basically I guess yahoo itssaelf kinda scans & viloates anything that isnt in code....so basically your answer wasnt really an "answer" so they violated you...I got the same thing....someone asked a stupid question I answered that they were in the wrong category but in no way answered or tried to answer the question & got violated...I was told its like a auot report thing & that other users dont necessarily h ave to report you??? not sure how accurate this is but its what I was told

you have to try and keep out of the controversy of the violation system I dare not say to much I fear that I have said too much already
We come to this site to relax and chill out and have fun. It is a questions and answers page if you type a question in it is something you want an answer to and whoever answers, answers in their own unique way. There fore unless the answer is rude ar abusive to the asker or rude or abusively asked should not have people on here with very narrow minds deleting or reporting it whatever level they are on. People on here (well a minority) need to get a life and stop reporting us mere userss who often come on here to relax!!!

and it pisses me off
i try not to the break the rules but a couple times i could see and i understood cuz i really did break the rules
but sumtimes it just stupid
like i kno it says sumthin in the rules about posting a question in the correct category
but come on how stupid is it to report somebody just cuz that
and sumtimes ppl report questions just cuz they dont like them
in the beautty and style category alot of ppl like to post pics and ask if there pretty
and ppl dont like that cuz so many many ppl keep asking it
so they report it even tho its not really against the rules ( atleast i dont think it is ) to post a pic and ask if your pretty

I have had 5 Violations in 1 Hour Today.
Somebody is trying to get my Account suspended.

I answered a question about violations because it made me do some research to find out what the rules are. There are a lot of questions posed that are strictly to create a chat, and I think those are the ones that are violations. I just came back to my computer and the first two questions (1) am I fat and the second one I can't remember were both deleted before I had a chance to see them.
If the question is one that makes people think and/or research, it seems that it would be valid to me, and there should be no violation. But I am not on the YA board of directors, I'm just a user.
I've had the most difficult time figuring out what is acceptable and what is not -- but the research I did was extremely helpful.
I just noticed that there is a link beneath the space that says:
"YOUR ANSWER" and it is the "Community Guidelines." I really found a lot of information in those guidelines about what YA is supposed to be. Thanks for asking. Your question gave me reason to research and learn.

Why is it necessarily someone else's fault that you had a violation for an answer?
Yahoo pick over every question and probably most of the answers.
We all get violations, so stop being a cry-baby, take it on the chin like we do and get over it.
Ask yourself who it is that should actually be growing up here.
