How do you break a habit that is bad for you but you really enjoy doing?!

I haven't found the answer to that - that's why I still smoke :)

Like smoking? Have somebody you know and trust deprave you of every opportunity.

Will power. I used to smoke and quit cold turkey.

I don't break it if I like doing it. I wait until I hate it then break it!!

Find something to replace it, like for smoking chewing gum, or working out, or a hobby.

eat some sunflower seeds... that helps quit the smoking..

good luck with that, i am trying to quit smoking and i am failing big time cuz i love it to much! I guess you just have to put your mind to it and stay reallllly busy!

You can try to break the habit by exhibiting self control. If that doesn't work--try conditioning yourself, which means, every time you do the thing, do something negative too. Your body will associate something negative with the habit and you'll stop doing it.

Cold Turkey and never look back.

It's a little like sugar--You can stop, but once you have a small sweet, you just cannot stop!

I'm like that with soda- I try to drink only water, but If I have a small soda, i'll be dying for it for the next week.

everytime i want a cigarette i throw my junk on the table and beat it with a hammer.......

First, don't be so tough on yourself, give yourself a break, I'm sure it can't be that bad. Second, Seems everything is bad for everyone these days, you can't even breathe in fresh air anymore so.......... unless your really hurting yourself or others I wouldn't worry too much about it. However, the only way that I have found is to go cold turkey. It's tough but it really does work, you must stay strong to your goal once you have set it. Perhaps even enlist the aid of a friend to help you.

like smoking. . .YOU DON'T, you more likely to die ina ******* car accident than from smoking, does that keep you from driving-no! so what's the difference with smoking?????

remind yourself of all the reasons it's bad for you, how much money you'll save if you quit, or how great you'd look wo/ the extra pounds , ... psych yourself up to do it, and have friends/family or chemical backup if that's appropriate -depends what you're quitting... and dredge up some willpower to stick with it .. maybe plan a 'reward' for the end as a goal, a little something to look forward to .. new outfit, weekend getaway etc .... best of luck if you go for it

smoking right? yeah i know what u mean. i enjoy smoking cigarettes too, but i guess eventually they will kill us if we don't stop :(

There are a couple of things that you could do to get rid of an irritating or annoying habit:

[1] To overdo the habit that you get "fed" up of it and seek change, and inevitably desist from the act (hobby).

[2] Completely abstain from it, using your will-power and your mental and emotional strength.

However, people have told me that smoking cigarettes is a bad habit. I haven't really found it any bad for me, and it is a way of life for me for the last 11+ years. I have never even made an effort to quit smoking, and I don't think I intend to break the habit.
