Question: I saw a child acting so bad in the store today. I was so embarrassed just watching it. The mother did nothing at all, but laugh at how he was behaving.

I think it all comes down to the parent being embaressed by the situation and not knowing how to handle the child when they start to misbehave. As a first time mother of an almost 4 year old I can relate to this situation. Sometimes your not sure how other people will react to they way you discipline your child so you just end up doing nothing and try to ignore it. That doesn't help the child at all b/c it lets them believe that they can get away w/ just about anything in public. It's difficult when a child gets like that in a store b/c you have to deal w/ everyones dirty looks and that just doesnt help the situation. I learned fairly quickly to ignore everyone around me cause' everyones going to have their own opinion. All parents should know that it's o.k. to discipline their child in public. It's no big deal.

Shes laughing at the thought of what shes going to do to him when they get home lol. I've seen the same thing. They can't do anything in public because its against the law. Just wait until you get home, then beat him ;)

mine never did- it depends on the parent some just don't care how their child acts or don't want to yell at their kid in an attempt to avoid an " i hate you"

Bad parenting. Although I would rather see that then having the parent hit their kid in public. People should learn how to take care of their kids.

You know I ask myself that question all the time cause if my daughter was acting like that I would have tore her lil butt up regardless we in public or not cause she know better than acting like that. The minute she get out of line I will make sure she will remember that cause the next time it happen she will know what is comin next.
