True. lol

Wax them

yeah, and to tell you the truth, I get MORE offended if some one says "No offence or Not to be rude, but"

I think Simon started all this stuff

They think it excuses their rudeness if they claim they don't *mean* to be.

PEOPLE PREFACE THINGS LIKE THAT TO SOFTEN THE BLOW. THINKING IT WILL MAKE IT SOUND BETTER OR THEY'LL BE FORGIVEN

it lessens the blow!
because they wanna be honest but yeah......it's hard to be honest......
being honest can be hurtful

l think it simply means that they want to get their own point of view across, but at the same time they do not want to personally offend anyone.

how about when people say "no offense but...." and then they say something really offensive

If I do it it's not to be sarcastic or cynical but everything these is so PC these days I feel obligated to say it so they know no harm is meant

I think it's their own little way of warning people. I figure it's my chance to prepare myself for whatever comes next. That or just stop them before they go on and tell them I don't want to hear it!

Maybe they're just trying to point something out to you so that you're aware.

People say that to let you know that they are pointing out something that is awkward to talk about openly but don't mean it to be an insult or hurtful.

Or like when they say "I don't mean to offend you" then they come out and say something that ends up offending. The truth of the matter is that they do intend on being rude or disrespectful, or offensive but they don't want you to get upset or offended by what it is they have to say. In their mind they feel that they are being honest. I guess some people simply don't know how to be honest without being offensive or whatnot. They lack tact or diplomacy.

I think....they don't really care if they're rude or if they offend you, they just want you to know their opinion.......

1st: how is that conceited? that doesn't make any sense. wrong use of the word maybe

and 2nd, yeah it's just so people can say what they really think without anyone calling them a bitchh.

They want to appear on the "Springer" show.

THEN WAX THEIR UPPER LIP.

they feel better about themselves if they at least try to be nice knowing full well they're being rude.

I say I don't mean to be rude before half of what I say about my boyfriends family. Do I care? No, the more rude I am, the better in my opinion but I have to keep the peace so I pretend to really care...
I am generally a really nice person but they've wronged me too many ways and times.
