What is the most expensive citation or traffic violation that you ever got?!

Question: This survey is because I have always been curious to just how expensive citations can be.

Answers: This survey is because I have always been curious to just how expensive citations can be.

My most expensive traffic violation could have landed me in jail according to one North Carolina State Trooper in Rocky Mount, NC. According to this particular State Troop, I was driving 90 mph in a 70 mph zone. ( o _ 0 ) 20 mph over the speed limit which could and should have landed me in the "pokey" according to said State Trooper. Mind you I drive a 2006 Honda Civic 4 cylinder engine comprising of two guinea pigs and two hamsters if that. My citation was $400.00. According to this fat head pooper, I had one of two choices.
1. Show up to court and face the judge on a prescribed date and pay my dues.

2. Hire an attorney to speak on my behalf.

I chose the latter. My actual ticket when I received the itemized bill? $25.00 The rest went to court and attorney fees. My sentence was dropped from speeding to a lesser charge of "expired registration" which wasn't expired at all because I purchased the car in Feb 06 and received my violation in Nov 06. ( o _ 0 ) Since I had a "clean" driving history my attorney convinced the judge to drop the charges from wreckless driving to an expired registration. Freakin' Rocky Mount North Carolina! Never again!

To add insult to injury the State Pooper says, "Oh you're not from around here I can tell. You'll probably get more tickets then." ( o _ 0 ) O'l fat head cow! Punk!

$120 for a speeding ticket. I know someone who received a ticket for speeding in a school zone, and the fine was over $600!

$30 dollar ticket.

$216 for going 15 miles over the speed limit in Friendswood, TX. Friendswood is a SUBURB of Houston where I lived. If it's that expensive there, then I don't even want to think about the fine I'd have to pay if I had gotten one in Houston, TX

My last traffic violation was near Casper, Wyoming for driving 78 in a 60 mph zone. The fine cost me $60.00 - that was in 1995. My wife received a speeding ticket in the Dallas area in about 1998 for doing 68 in a 45 mph zone. It cost her $125.00. I understand that in most places traffic violations have gone up substantially over the past ten years. I finally decided to stop speeding cold turkey.

$660 for an overweight

$30, it was a parking violation on campus.
