yes a laser, when you shine it at air it breaks a beam of light, when seen in slow mo it is visible
During world war 2, ships used lights with a flap in front of them. They would move the flap to form morse code.
Sure, On ships they used to send morse code messages to other ships. It was just a stong spot light behind some blinds that the operator could open and close. Out went the dots(short dash) and dashes.
