Harry Potter and JK Rowling are responsible for the collective dumbing down of a generation of potentially literate young adults.
Its now acceptable for mediocre stories and bad English to be the benchmark.
Its bad enough we have conned kids into thinking this is great literature - but adults who fall for it deserve a good whack on the nose. Following that they should be frogmarched to the nearest Books Etc or Waterstones and chained to the classical literature section - forced to read PG Wodehouse, Oscar Wilde and Chaucer until their ears bleed.
