Answers: The Brooklyn Bridge? and worst of all did someone else try to by it?

Historically, the first attempt to sell the Brooklyn Bridge was by Edward R. Sniley, a Brooklyn habadasher in 1899 to a group of youths who were dangling him over the side. Sadly, his attempt to sell it fell on deaf ears and as he plummetted to his almost certain death he could hear the cackles from above. Then, the next attempt was during the 1911 World Series when legendary Giant pitcher Christy Mathewson tried to sell it to a buxom blonde for sexual favors. She took him up on the offer and he left the back alley a very satisfed ball player. The next attempt was made during the Second World War by a deranged sailor, John Puddedorf, who, while on leave, sold it to a group of women from Hackensack, New Jersey, for, once again sexual favors. They declined and he decided to jump off. The last documented attempt was in 1956, when it was announed the Brooklyn Dodgers were leaving for the west coast. An outraged bartender sold the Brooklyn Bridge to a Japanese tourist for over 1 million yen, which ended up being $7.43 US.
