Question: I just read people are deleting contacts due to troll activity?
I don't get it, what are they doing and why?

This is something I sadly had to do recently. I had a lot of sudden trolls and false reporting and feared for my account AND my contacts (since they can be viewed by anyone who is a contact). I started over and added ONLY the contacts I KNEW were the good guys and who had accounts that have been here a long time, so they were "safe" and stable. I'm not entirely sure this is effective, but a good precautionary tactic, nonetheless. Hopefully, someone else can add to this answer with more "experience" and give more specific help.

I deleted fans not contacts. All of my fans were not contacts. I did so because someone went through my questions & started reporting as "chatting". They were straight out questions. A couple were even from months ago.
I know it had to be someone on the fan list since my Q&A are private.
I debated for days before removing over 180 fans.

well basically some people have added me and since iv had someone thumbs downing all my answers , reporting my perfectly valid questions from ages ago, that only contacts and fans would be able to see, and i had a strange email too, so ive had to delete any fans and contacts im unsure of
Lil miss nameless asked a Q "Name something that doesn't exist". Everybody that answered got a hugely disproportionate number of thumb downs. It was really weird, I'm starting to think someone hacked into YA that shouldn't have.
I have no idea and hadn't heard of it until now.
There are people out there who are constantly keeping track of all your questions and all your answers. They might have some bitter feelings due to even the slightest way you might have made them feel by not selecting them as best answer or there could be so many other reasons. Their way of taking revenge is by reporting your questions or answers. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing who reported you. Y/A should take reporting very seriously and not give this job of processing violations to a machine.
