I saw a documentary about that a few years ago and thought it was a joke, i also read that their teeth are sometimes grinded down, its not natural and i think its sick, i dont mind when people spoil their pets with bling collars and fancy bags to hold them in, but to leave an animal defenceless is barbaric and shame on anyone who would do this to their pet. lol.

There are cat people, dog people, fish people and well furniture people (the ones with no lives...oh yeah and no hearts)

It's an American thing. Here in the UK I've never heard of anybody doing this although I'm sure there are a few. It's not necessary & it's cruel. Mind you it's probably done by the sort of people who keep cats as "house pets" so what can you expect? That's cruel as well, cat's are meant to roam, it's what they do. They're also meant to have claws.

I don't know what po xy furniture is, but I agree with you. It's amazing how many people think it's acceptable to have their cats claws removed.

Well did you know that there are also people who have their cats/dogs euthanized when they move because it's inconvenient to take them along?

And there are people who euthanize their cats when the cat has an "accident" on the carpet even though the most common cause of something like that is a simple urinary tract infection that can be treated with $20 antibiotics.

People who do this should not live with cats, they would be better off with a fish in a bowl.

you cant keep buying new furniture cause your cat can't keep his paws to themselves .if you have nice furniture don't get a cat

my yorkie is not allowed on the furniture.. i love my dog, but love my nice home aswell.. it is easier to train a dog than a cat..

It's easy, my cats are declawed and perfectly happy and healthy. And have outlived all the other cats around that are roaming the streets with their claws. Some people euthanize their cats for clawing, some toss them out on the streets (to be hit by cars, tortured, poisoned, etc), others declaw. My cats are strictly indoors, they have no desire to roam.

My cats are declawed and healthy, it had nothing to do with my furniture. If you don't like the idea simply don't declaw your cats. Let other people make their own decisions. As the above answerer stated there are far worse things that could happen to some of these untrainable, claw everything in sight cats. At least it's not cosmetic like the docking of ears and tails on dogs.

Because they are selfish little people

I see it as a form of mutilation and totally unessesary. I would never do that to my cats. My cats use their little scratching posts to scratch their claws on and i used training spray on my furniture to begin with which stopped them doing this to the furniture and they still dont touch it. It's selfish and lazy of these people to just resort to this.

i agree with you love, the butcher doesn't believe in [ butchering] animals........
