Train Stations have a lot of historical value - especially in their architecture. I have always enjoyed visiting various train stations - they can be extremely beautiful. They could be teaching architectural style and changes, also technology. I don't think this is a weird trip at all - it sounds interesting.

there's a lot of interesting history in railway stations.

the only weird place my kids went to on a school trip was to a place called Jacobs well where they walked through mud and there was a lot of mossies, It is like a rain Forrest.
