For those who remember the TV show "Good TImes" do you think..?!

Question: For those who remember the TV show "Good TImes" do you think it was better after John Amos (played James Evans) left or better with? It seemed as though the writers made it so that they did not have the money problems they had before when he was alive (on the show). They seemed to do much better. The furniture was better, they would buy things, and it seemed if I remember right that they really did not complain after that of having a problem putting food on the table. The show really changed a lot. Maybe because the writers had Florida get a job and when James was alive they wrote it so that he would not allow her to work...that he would rather have them struggle than to have her work. So, anyway back to my question again: do you think it was better after John Amos (played James Evans) left or better with?

With!
I really enjoyed that show and when he was a central figure the show had substance.
Yet, I believe he wanted more money and they wrote him out of the show.
That was a huge mistake because Jimmy Walker and his character "JJ" became the central figure in the show.
JJ was the perfect comic relief but a poor choice as lead and the show faded accordingly.
I also feel that the writers were sacrificed by network executives who didn't understand their audiences.
They wrongly assumed that a strong black male figure wasn't vital to the credibility of the shows premise.
John Amos was an awesome actor!

I liked it better when he was on the show

I never thought the show was any good from the start of it.

before he left

I cannot believe you put all this time to think about this in your daily schedule

yes I recall that they did better he probably had a 5000 dollar bill at the same place the new york governor had

he was client # 3

i liked both but i always hate when they kill
some one off

DYNOMITE!

The show was MUCH better with him in the cast!

It wasn't my favorite show but if I were to have watched it I think John Amos needs to be in it.

I liked the show better when James Evans was alive; the writers so wrote his part like my dad;I remember times when I was young and my dad didn't want my mom to work and he always worked and provided for us; my dad died before Good times went off the air; but just watching that show reminded me of the good times I had when my dad was alive
